Dark Peak Media Interns

Announcing the new post of Dark Peak Media and Marketing Intern (Dark Peak Mints)

DPMF is launching a groundbreaking new scheme offering two of our students the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals to develop knowledge, skills and insight into the important area of arts marketing, specifically media.

We are seeking two students with an interest in the management side of the music/creative arts industry.

Applicants should be over the age of 16, in full-time education and current members of a Dark Peak ensembles. The opportunity would suit students who may be considering a career in marketing and arts management. Although not essential the ideal candidate would be studying Arts, Music, Media or English. We would like applicants to write a short “personal statement” explaining why they are interested in this opportunity and how it will fit in with their life-plans. Applications will be considered by Steven Dexter (Community Producer) and Andy Zuntz (Leadership Consultant and Chair of DPMF).

Closing date for application is Friday 17th January.

We hope to start the project in February with a gradual roll-out over the course of the first year. We anticipate that successful candidates might take on the role for between 1 and 3 years (depending on when they move onto higher education) but we hope that other interested students will be able to benefit as well during the course of the project, leading to a succession of candidates.

  • Interns will have the opportunity to work with an industry professional in devising and implementing a sustainable Media/Comms Plan.

  • They will be given access to a series of workshops in areas such as photography, creative writing, ethical social media practice, image and film editing, project management from top industry professionals, who will develop their skills.

  • Working with a design and branding professional to develop a series of social media assets that DPMF will use going forward.

  • The group will have regular check in mentoring sessions with the project Producer to reflect on the content they are creating and how it might be improved.

  • At the end of the 6-month training programme, participants will receive a certificate and reference for future employment and may include the experience on their CVs and Personal Statements when applying for entry level creative industry roles going forward. There is also opportunity for portfolio development. We will encourage participants to document their contributions for use in college/job applications.

  • Interns will be responsible for creating content and maintaining an engaging and active social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and any other platforms recommended.

  • Interns will work with the Directors of DPMF in promoting specific projects and areas of activity.

  • Duties will include producing and publishing regular content on Facebook and Instagram and developing a new TikTok channel including content relating to news, events, features, lived experience and creative aspirations.

  • Students will co-design a Communications Plan with Steven Dexter, which will scope the type of content and regularity of posts and all content will be reviewed by DPMF Directors and the Producer before publication.

  • Interns will receive a small stipend in recognition of their work.

We are very excited to be piloting this innovative scheme which adds a new dimension to the career development opportunities that DPMF can offer its students and also brings our students into the heart of running and developing the work of the Foundation.
